Photo of meal in marquee at WuppertalNaturism has an extensive history, especially in Germany.  We are starting to see some notable anniversaries.

Wuppertal Family Naturist Sports Club is one such historic club. Situated on the outskirts of Wuppertal, Germany, it has extensive grounds and features a wide offering of different sports activities for the whole family.  In early July 2024 it marked its 100th year with a special event, and they were kind enough to invite Sieglinde Ivo, co-president of the INF-FNI, to be present.

Sieglinde addressed the club’s directors, members and guests as follows.

First of all I would like to thank you very much for the invitation, it is a special honour and pleasure for me to be able to congratulate you personally on the existence of an association for 100 years.

Picture of group marking 100 years of WuppertalWe can only imagine how much work has gone into these 100 years and how many ups and downs have had to be mastered, but I think you are on the right track and will be able to cope with the next decades without any problems. However, it is also a great obligation for the current generation to maintain what has been achieved and, where necessary, to build on it. We, from the naturist clubs, have actually been practising for decades what has only been discovered on a broad scale in recent years – local recreation areas, family leisure activities, popular sports, healthy lifestyles.

We can be proud to have been pioneers in these areas and are still practising them today. In our hectic and low-contact times, naturist clubs have taken on the increasingly important task of giving people of all ages a sense of security and community in a harmonious and healthy way of life.

Tackling this problem is the great task of each individual club, but also of the association as a whole, so that it can be kept alive and so that our children and grandchildren can also enjoy the individual beautiful club grounds and get to know a harmonious club life.

For the future, I wish you many more members and friends who are willing to make their strength and experience available to the clubs or the association and, of course, a portion of luck that everyone needs in all endeavours.

As our pictures show, it was a wonderful occasion.
